Arrive at Lilongwe International Airport where you will meet your safari guide and begin your journey to the scenic Viphya Plateau. Upon arrival in the Viphya area, check into your lodge and enjoy the peaceful surroundings of the plateau. After breakfast, depart Mzuzu and drive toward Vwaza Marsh Game Reserve, a beautiful wilderness area situated near the Zambian border. Upon arrival, begin a game drive exploring the reserve’s grasslands, woodlands, and marshes. Vwaza is home to elephants, hippos, buffaloes, antelopes, and numerous bird species. With luck, you may encounter wildlife gathering around water sources. Enjoy a picnic or lodge lunch before continuing with an afternoon game drive. After breakfast, leave Vwaza Marsh and travel toward the spectacular Nyika National Park. The journey takes you into Malawi’s highlands, where the landscape changes dramatically to rolling grasslands, valleys, and mountain scenery. Upon arrival, check into your lodge and enjoy lunch. In the afternoon, embark on a game drive across the Nyika Plateau, looking for zebra, roan antelope, eland, bushbuck, and other wildlife. Today is dedicated to exploring Nyika National Park on a full-day wildlife safari. After an early breakfast, set out across the vast plateau in search of its remarkable wildlife. Nyika is famous for its large herds of zebra and diverse antelope species, including roan and eland. You may also encounter hyenas, leopards, and smaller mammals, while the open grasslands provide excellent opportunities for photography. Enjoy a picnic lunch surrounded by the beautiful highland scenery before continuing your game drive. Later, return to the lodge and relax as you watch the sunset over the plateau. After breakfast, depart Nyika and travel toward Livingstonia, a historic hilltop settlement with spectacular views over the surrounding valleys. Explore the town and learn about its history, architecture, and cultural significance. Continue to the impressive Manchewe Waterfalls, one of northern Malawi’s most beautiful natural attractions. Enjoy a guided walk around the waterfalls, admire the scenery, and take photographs of the cascading water and surrounding landscape. After your visit, continue to your accommodation in the Livingstonia area. Spend the evening relaxing and enjoying the cool highland environment. Dinner and overnight stay in Livingstonia.
After breakfast, begin your journey back to Lilongwe, enjoying scenic views of northern and central Malawi along the way. The drive provides another opportunity to appreciate Malawi’s changing landscapes, from highland scenery to fertile countryside and traditional villages. Stop along the way for lunch and refreshments before continuing toward Lilongwe.
